The reality

It Takes Strength to Be Here.

Living in Burnaby and the Lower Mainland means you're surrounded by people who look like they have it all figured out — the career, the condo, the lifestyle. But behind closed doors, a lot of men in this area are quietly dealing with things they never talk about. The cost of living alone is enough to keep you up at night, and when you add relationship strain, work pressure, and the grey months that seem to stretch forever, something eventually gives.

Maybe your relationship has gone cold and every conversation feels like a negotiation or a silence. Maybe the commute is eating your life and by the time you get home there's nothing left for the people who matter. Maybe you've been leaning on alcohol, porn, or screens to decompress — and the habit has taken on a life of its own. Or maybe you just feel stuck — working hard, paying bills, but with no sense of direction or purpose underneath it all.

None of that means you're failing. It means you've been operating in survival mode for too long without anyone to talk to about it.

Anchor Men's Therapy connects you with a male therapist who gets what men in the Lower Mainland are actually dealing with — the financial squeeze, the provider pressure, the difficulty being vulnerable in a culture that rewards looking like you have it together.

Issues we help

What we work on, together.

Men across Burnaby and the surrounding Lower Mainland — from Metrotown and Brentwood to New Westminster, Coquitlam, Port Moody, and the Tri-Cities — come to Anchor when something in their life needs to change. Here's what we help with most.

Man finding his footing through therapy
What changes

Keeping It Together Isn't the Same as Being Okay.

The Lower Mainland is full of men who look fine on the outside but are quietly struggling underneath. You're commuting, providing, managing a household, showing up — and nobody asks how you're actually doing. The men who get the most out of therapy aren't the ones who've collapsed. They're the ones who finally decide that 'getting by' isn't good enough anymore.

That's not a fantasy. That's what happens when a man decides to do the work.

Our story

Why I Started Anchor Men's Therapy.

Most men don't get a personal invitation to start therapy. So I built one.

Anchor Men's Therapy was founded for two reasons.

Personal experience

As a man, I understand how easy it is to carry stress, pressure, and internal struggles alone. My own experience with therapy showed me how powerful the right support can be in helping regain clarity, balance, and stability.

Professional perspective

Through years of working closely with therapists across North America with Marketing Well, I observed a growing demand from men seeking help, alongside a persistent shortage of male-focused therapy options and male therapists available to support them.

Many men find comfort in speaking with professionals who closely understand the unique challenges men often face, from identity and purpose to stress, relationships, and emotional well-being.

Anchor Men's Therapy was created to provide that space.

The Anchor difference

Therapy that meets men where they are.

Male Therapists Who Get It.

Every therapist on our team is a man. So the cultural shorthand around work, fatherhood, identity and pressure doesn't need explaining from scratch.

Confidential & Judgment-Free.

No assumptions about what you should be feeling. No corporate jargon. Just secular, evidence-based therapy in a space where you can say the things you've been holding back.

Built Specifically for Men.

Our model, our clinicians, our intake. Every part of the practice was designed around how men actually engage with therapy when it's a fit.

The team

Meet Our Male Therapists & Counsellors in Burnaby.

Every Anchor therapist is male. We built it that way because men consistently open up more easily with someone who shares their perspective. Our Burnaby-serving therapists understand the specific pressures men face in the Lower Mainland — from the crushing cost of living and long commutes to the rain-season isolation, cultural expectations around providing, and the quiet pressure of a region where everyone looks like they're thriving while you're barely holding on.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions.

Sessions happen over secure video call — no fighting traffic on the Trans-Canada or squeezing therapy between SkyTrain transfers. Connect from your home, your office, or wherever you have privacy. We offer flexible scheduling including evenings and weekends to work around commutes and family life.

Financial stress and cost-of-living pressure are at the top of the list — housing, debt, and the grind of keeping up in one of the most expensive regions in Canada. Relationship breakdowns, anger, anxiety, depression, and porn addiction are also extremely common. A lot of men also come during major transitions like divorce, becoming a father, immigration adjustment, or the realization that the life they've built doesn't feel like the one they actually want.

Many extended health and group benefits plans in BC cover psychotherapy or counselling. We recommend checking with your provider to confirm your coverage. We offer a free initial consultation so you can find the right fit before any financial commitment.

Because understanding matters. A lot of men tell us they tried therapy before and it didn't click — often because they didn't feel truly understood. A male therapist shares the experience of being expected to provide, stay steady, and never show cracks. That means less time explaining yourself and more time doing the work that actually changes things.

We focus exclusively on men, and every therapist on our team is male. That means you're not getting a generalist — you're getting someone who specializes in the issues men actually face and intuitively understands the pressures, expectations, and internal conflicts that come with being a man. No explaining, no translating — just real work.

Very normal — a lot of our clients are first-timers. Your initial session is just a conversation about what's going on and what you'd like to change. There's no script, no pressure, and no judgment. Most men tell us it felt far more natural than they expected.
